4th of July Campout

We went camping up by Gunnison for the

4th of July this year. It was a great time! I got

to see my long time best friend Cyndi. We don't

get to see each other all that much since she lives

up north, but we try as much as possible. The kids

had fun playing together. There was cow poop every

where, so needless to say everybody was covered in it.

Our first night Zander of course had stepped in some

and as we were getting ready for bed in the camper he

had walked on Tag's jacket, Calista's pillow and blanket.

The weather was so beautiful up there, we took a drive

to try and go fishing, but there was a huge snow drift

in the road, so we just let the kids get out and play in

the snow for a while. It was quite a bit colder up there

then down at camp. The trip home was quite interesting.

we left camp at 11:30 a.m. What was supposed to be a 4

hour trip home turned into almost 8. First of all we had

borrowed BJ's brothers camp trailer, which is from the 70's

and still has the original tires on it. We knew it was kind

of a risk to take it on such a long trip. So coming down the

mountain we got a flat tire on the trailer. BJ put the spare on,

but later found out it had a slow leak. Fix a Flat didn't work, so

we made it to Walmart in Richfield where it was pouring

rain to get a new tire. After hours of waiting and the kids getting
restless, thank goodness for DVD system in the truck.
They wouldn't let us just buy a tire, but made
us purchase the tire and rim. We went to McDonalds to
get some food since we hadn't had anythingto eat
since breakfast and let the kids run around while they mounted

the tire on our rim. When we got back, they had locked the doors

to the tire place! BJ had to knock so they would let him in, and

then he had to borrow a jack so he, yes BJ could put the tire on.
I guess they had been pretty busy that day and didn't
want to help any more customers so they wouldn't
even put our tire on the trailer. We made it home
safe and sound though.

Me and my boys. I know Taggarts looks like

he has hypothermia, but no worries, its just

from eating a blue ring pop.

Cyndi's friends brought up a hammock that the

kids just loved swinging in

Looks like a very fun trip. Cyndi's dog is huge!- I bet he made a good horse for Callista. I would have been so mad at the tire shop, but I am glad that you guys made it home safely.
